Kojic acid is a chelation agent produced by several species of fungi, especially Aspergillus oryzae, which has the Japanese common name koji. Kojic acid inhibits and prevents the formation of tyrosine, which is an amino acid that’s needed to produce melanin. Melanin is the pigment that affects hair, skin, and eye color. Because it inhibits the production of melanin, kojic acid can have a lightening effect. Aloevera extract on the face can help moisturize skin. Regularly applying a small amount of aloe vera to the face can help treat various skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and sunburn. Licorice is beneficial for treating skin infections such as psoriasis to reduce itching of the skin, swelling and redness. It is particularly useful to dry and sensitive skin but its balancing abilities also make it good to use for oily skin control treatment.
